LDA Approves 60 Urban Development Proposals: Housing, Skyscrapers, E-Vehicle Hubs

Lucknow Development Authority

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) in its 185th board meeting on Tuesday approved 60 proposals, marking a significant step towards modern urban development and infrastructure enhancement in the city. The meeting, chaired by divisional commissioner and LDA chairperson Roshan Jacob, included pivotal decisions on building approvals, housing schemes, e-vehicle infrastructure, and new bylaws.

Approval for Single Residential Buildings on Narrow Government Roads

A key proposal cleared by the board permits approval of maps for single residential buildings constructed by government departments on roads less than 9 meters wide, provided the land is designated for residential use and excludes illegal colonies. This move is expected to benefit small-scale housing projects while ensuring regulatory compliance.

High-Tech Group Housing and Luxury Flats

LDA also gave the green light to multiple high-end housing projects, which will collectively offer over 1,100 flats across four prime city locations:

  • Viraj Khand, Gomtinagar (4.5 acres)

  • Mill Road, Aishbagh (3.5 acres)

  • Basant Kunj Scheme (4.63 acres and 3.7 acres)

These 2BHK and 3BHK flats will come with modern facilities, landscaped green areas, and upgraded infrastructure, supporting the city’s premium residential growth.

Additionally, 1,832 affordable housing flats under construction by LDA—comprising 1BHK and 2BHK units—will feature lifts, fire safety systems, DG backup, and enhanced external amenities. Registrations for these units are currently ongoing.

Major Infrastructure Boost

  1. Modern Bus Terminal at Charbagh:

    • To be developed under PPP model, aimed at decongesting traffic and modernizing public transport facilities.

  2. E-Vehicle Charging Infrastructure:

    • 1,000 sqmt plot in Basant Kunj allotted to City Transport Services Ltd. for an e-auto and e-rickshaw charging station.

  3. Special Convenience Zones:

    • Shaheed Path, Kisan Path, and the proposed Green Corridor (Pakka Pul to Daliganj) will now be treated as special convenience zones, improving commercial and commuter access.

Policy Changes for Commercial Allotments

  • Scrapping of E-Auction Model:
LDA will now sell commercial shops, halls, and stores on a first-come, first-served basis at reserve rates, making the process simpler and more accessible to small traders and business owners, said LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar.

New Building Bylaws and Skyscraper Approvals

  • New building bylaws and zoning regulations-2025 have been approved, paving the way for skyscrapers in Lucknow.

  • This will allow taller vertical development, optimizing land use and transforming the city skyline.

Digital Transformation and File Management

The board sanctioned complete scanning and digital preservation of protected and created files, followed by systematic weeding as per state government guidelines, ensuring efficient file management and transparency.
